How to Build a Simple Content Based Online Business in 2025
Creating an online business can feel overwhelming. There’s always a new trend, or a new strategy screaming for your attention.
But what if you could simplify everything?
What if building a sustainable content-based business took just 30 minutes to an hour each day?
That’s exactly what I am going to show you.
This isn’t a theory.
It’s the system I’ve been using for years, and it works. By the end of this article, you’ll have a clear plan to build a business that can generate income in 2025 and beyond—all while keeping your life simple and your sanity intact.
Build a Writing Habit
The cornerstone of this system is writing. Before you roll your eyes and say, “I’m not a writer,” let me tell you: this isn’t about Shakespearean prose. It’s about showing up consistently.
Here’s my process: I write one article a day, Monday to Friday. Each one takes about 20 minutes. They’re short, to the point (like this one!), and packed with value.
Over the last 18 months, I’ve written 372 articles on Medium.
That habit alone has transformed my business.
Start small. Write for two weeks and aim for 10 articles. These articles will become the foundation for everything else you create.

Let AI Fill the Gaps
Feeling stuck for ideas? That’s where tools like ChatGPT come in.
Copy one of your articles, paste it into ChatGPT, and ask it to identify knowledge gaps or suggest related topics.
In minutes, you’ll have a list of ideas to keep your content pipeline full. For example, from a single article, ChatGPT might suggest topics like “repurposing underperforming content” or “how to create content that resonates.” Boom—instant inspiration.
Here is what I got from Friday’s article: https://medium.com/@seriousmarketersonly/work-smarter-repurpose-your-content-like-a-pro-e4f12e7ae46d?sk=ee30565466a9fd0db60c54a8c5805d5b
Find What Resonates
Your audience is a goldmine of insights.
On platforms like Medium, you can see which parts of your articles people highlight. That’s feedback telling you exactly what they find valuable.
If you’re not on Medium, look at comments, shares, or likes on social media. What are people engaging with? Those moments of connection are breadcrumbs leading you to your next great piece of content.
Use those highlights for Social media posts.
Build a Content Ecosystem
Every piece of content should work together.
Write your daily articles and link them to your newsletter.
Your newsletter, in turn, links to your main offer.
Keep it simple.
For example, I use Substack for my newsletter, which I send out weekly. It’s a curated collection of my best ideas, and it points readers toward my one core offer.
Focus on One Offer
Here’s where most people complicate things: they create too many offers. Don’t do that. One offer is all you need.
In my case, it’s the All-Access Pass. For $99, members get everything I create: coaching, community access, and tools to build their business. Simplicity is key. By focusing on one offer, I make it easy for my audience to take the next step.
Stick to the Process
That’s it—write, engage, link, and simplify. The key to success in 2025 is consistency.
Show up every day, stick to the plan, and trust the process.
The truth is, you don’t need fancy tools or a big team. With just 30 minutes a day and a willingness to keep things simple, you can build an online business that supports your goals and gives you the freedom to live life on your terms.
